Position: Housing Specialist

Compensation: $44,990 per annum

What You Will Be Doing:
– Responsible for locating affordable units within the appropriate geographic area as assigned.
– Maintains current directory of housing providers and contacts for assigned
projects.
– Provides timely housing availability to assigned clinical teams and coordinates
with them to ensure vacancies are filled within agency timelines.
– Supports the Leasing Manager in negotiating assigned leases on behalf of tenants in collaboration with the tenant and case manager.
– In collaboration with Leasing Manager, initially and annually signs leases for assigned units as needed and ensures that all required documentation is obtained and maintained per agency leasing protocols.
– Collaborates with Leasing and Property Managers to ensure that renters’ insurance is maintained on assigned units where the lease requires, and that relevant agency staff are kept updated on client moves and unit reassignments.
– Completes unit inspections at move-in and move-out for assigned units and periodically thereafter as needed.
– Communicates with clinical and maintenance staff as needed to ensure appropriate safety standards are maintained in units. Maintains documentation of related issues and actions taken.
– Stays current on communications from external and internal parties pertaining to leasing, landlord inquiries and concerns, and other related topics.
Required Qualifications Include:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently. Basic knowledge of fair housing law and landlord-tenant rights and responsibilities. Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications. Valid current driver’s license and own dependable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field. Experience locating and/or leasing units for individuals with disabilities. Experience working with individuals with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders. Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and requirements.
