DryHome Roofing Provides Nonprofit Pathway Homes with a Free Roof, Ensuring Clients will Have a New Roof for the Holidays
FAIRFAX, Va. (December 23, 2024) — DryHome Roofing and Siding awarded mental health nonprofit Pathway Homes a free roof this holiday season through its 23rd annual Free Roof for the Holidays program. Pathways received a new roof for one of its houses in the Alexandria-area of Fairfax that is home to three adults who were formerly chronically homeless.
“Pathway Homes is wonderful nonprofit that is helping Northern Virginians struggling with homelessness and mental health issues regain their lives,” explained Steve Gotschi, CEO, DryHome. “Knowing that we are helping Pathways serve more people and that their clients will be celebrating the holidays under a new roof brings joy to our DryHome team.”
Throughout November, Sterling-based DryHome accepted nominations from customers and the community to identify a Northern Virginia individual, family, or nonprofit in need. DryHome selected Pathway Homes as the recipient based on its needs, the condition of the roof, and the important work it does to help others.
“This is an amazing gift, and we are grateful for being a second time recipient of a new roof. DryHome’s generosity ensures that we can reach more people with the resources this frees up. Our clients have long struggled to keep a roof over their heads, so having a new, dry roof means the world to them too,” explained Pathway Homes CEO Sylisa Lambert-Woodard.
Pathway Homes is a nonprofit providing mental health services—starting with safe, stable housing—to individuals marginalized by poverty and inequity. For almost 45 years, Pathway Homes has enabled tens of thousands of people in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC with serious mental illnesses and other co-occurring disabilities to get housing and supportive services to help them recover their lives.
Pathway Homes serves individuals with a fixed income as low as $774 per month, with most falling below 200% of the federal poverty level. Following the housing first model, Pathway Homes is a partner in preventing and ending homelessness. Nearly 2,000 people in 2024 had access to services and over 550 permanent supportive housing units.
DryHome Roofing and Siding has been serving Northern Virginia for more than 35 years. The “Free Roof for the Holidays” program enables the company to thank its customers and the community by helping those less fortunate have a safe roof over their heads too. Since the program’s inception, the company has donated more than 23 roofs worth more than $200,000 to people and nonprofits in the community.
Over the years, DryHome has awarded roofs to people and nonprofits across the region with a variety of needs. Last year, Loudoun Habitat client Asma Messaoudi, a single mother of four who has a disability, received a new roof. Other past recipients included Pathway Homes; an Ashburn man struggling with cancer; a Navy veteran who founded an animal therapy nonprofit; a Stafford mother of three who lost her husband; a Vienna mother who was struggling following a difficult divorce; a Leesburg widow and mother of two young children; Cornerstones; an advocate for the homeless; Doorways for Women and Families’ Safehouse; a Loudoun school bus driver; Good Shepherd Alliance; Falls Church Cub Scout House; and Gabriel Homes.
